Employee Discipline Policy

This is a CPDoc. It may be generated from a completed Client Profile.

This Policy sets out behaviour that management finds unacceptable in the work place.

Small business owners often find employees taking advantage of various situations to turn up late to work, to do certain things at work that infuriate the business owners

This Policy lists these common issues and states quite clearly to the employee that they are unacceptable. If an employee breaches this Policy they may find themselves subject to disciplinary actions ranging from verbal reprimand, written warning and finally dismissal.

Every business needs to not only have written policies and procedures concerning what can and cannot be done in the workplace, but also written employment agreements so that if a situation arises where an employee needs to be let go, the documentation firmly backs up management.

Together these documents ensure that:

  • your staff know what they have been employed to do;
  • management has set specific procedures in place to make the workplace safe, and accordingly those procedures are to be followed;
  • each member of staff has read the policies and procedures, has understood them and abides by them;
  • management provides continuing education in areas such as occupational health and safety, sexual harassment, discrimination, technology to ensure that the business keeps pace with a changing legal environment;
  • if an employee needs to be let go, then this may be done by management in the knowledge that they have the documentation necessary to prove their case.
The Workplace Relations Act (Cth) sets minimum terms and conditions for each workplace run by a company. If you need to vary those minimum terms, you have to have documentation in place that supports the variation. Not just words, written evidence.

If you require any amendments to the document after it has been returned to you, one of our lawyers can make those amendments however the cost for this work is not included in the price of this document. Please contact us on info@ampalmer.com.au for further assistance.
